How did adopting your pet change your life?

Having Flo has only improved my life.  Her smile is so infectious and she makes it very difficult to have a bad day, because she’s always so happy.

What would you like people to know about the pet adoption process?

I would like people to know that it’s not as daunting as you might think.  The paperwork is not overly extensive and the adoption fee is well worth what you are getting in return.

What qualities were you looking for during the pet adoption process?

Honestly, I was not actively looking to adopt a dog when I got Flo.  But once I made the decision to foster, I was most concerned with making sure that the new dog got along with my dog.  I was also looking for an older dog because my dog is a senior and I did not want to have a high-energy, younger dog that she would not be able to keep up with.

What advice would you give to someone looking to adopt a rescue pet?

Make sure that you have time in your schedule to give them the attention that they need.  Make sure that you can provide them with enough walks. Make sure that you are able to take care of them financially, physically and emotionally.

How do you think pets can make a positive influence in people’s lives?

Pet can make a huge influence in people’s lives.  They can make you remember to not take life too seriously, and to enjoy the little things in life.

What is your pet rescue story?

A friend of mine is a volunteer for a foster agency and she was showing me pictures of this dog she loves that she was trying to find a home for months. I knew right away that I wanted to bring her into my house if I could.  After just one day with us, I knew that I wanted her to be with us forever.

What was it about your pet that made you want to bring her into your family?

She’s a very affectionate dog that wants to be with you all the time.  Her enthusiasm and happiness brings light into our house on a daily basis.

What are your goals in sharing your adoption story?

I hope to inspire someone else to adopt a dog.  Adoption changes the lives of both the dog and the person.

What are some stereotypes about rescue pets and the breed that you would like to debunk?

I would like to change the perception that Pit Bulls are dangerous dogs.  Flo has shown nothing but love and affection towards me and my dog since she joined our house.
